NetBeez 2025: A Look Back at the Year

As we approach the end of the year, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on what we’ve accomplished. In this article I will review the features and the webinars that we delivered in 2025. I hope this article helps our readers catch up on all the updates we’ve shared throughout the year. It’s also a great opportunity to highlight the progress that we’ve made and the value these enhancements bring to our users.

2025 NetBeez Releases and Key Updates

From a product perspective, our development team delivered many important updates, not only new features, but also significant backend improvements. Since NetBeez can also be hosted on-prem, applying backend updates can be challenging than in a traditional SaaS environment. Below is a summary of the most impactful enhancements, and you can always find the complete list in the release notes section of the NetBeez public documentation:

  • OS server upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (February 2025 – v14.4)
  • Cloudflare speed test (April 2025 – v14.5)
  • Daily reports for Remote Worker deployments (April 2025 – v14.5)
  • AI-based summaries (April 2025 – v14.5)
  • Custom Command (August 2025 – v15.0)
  • Scheduled Tests on Wired Interface for Wi-Fi sensors (December 2025 – v15.2)

Top 3 Features for 2025

Custom Command

The Custom Command feature enables network agents to run user-defined scripts written in Bash or Python. This feature unlocks a wide range of possibilities for NetBeez users by supporting the execution of scriptable tests.

For users who aren’t proficient with scripting, tools like ChatGPT or other LLMs can help generate scripts quickly and reliably. I used this approach for all my own scripts and was very satisfied with the results. You can see an example of it by reading the article I wrote about running OWAMP on NetBeez agents.

Along with this feature, we also launched a new section of our community where users can share their scripts. If you’re a NetBeez user looking for inspiration, be sure to check out the articles published there, they’re a great source of ideas for what to run on your agents. And if you have a script you’d like to contribute, simply create an account in the community and post your own.

AI-Based Network Insights

This feature, currently in beta, represents our first step toward harnessing the power of LLMs for network monitoring. In select areas of the NetBeez dashboard, we’ve added an AI button, which is represented by a brain icon. When the user clicks it, it generates a summary of alerts and events recorded by the system. This functionality is available in selected areas of the dashboard, such as:

  • Agent details view,
  • Target details view,
  • Wi-Fi profiles,
  • Incidents widget,
  • Alerts tab.

I regularly use this function myself, and I have to admin that is not always accurate or meaningful. However, I had several occasions where the AI-generated insights helped me streamline monitoring and troubleshooting. In those instances, it allowed me to summarize a large amount of data and alerts, helping me focus on the root causes. I showed an example of the AI-Based network insights in an article covering the zoom outage that happened this April.

Cloudflare Speed Test

In version 14.5, NetBeez introduced support for the Cloudflare speed test. The goal of this update was to expand the options beyond the previously available NDT and fast.com tests. In fact, NDT has a limited server network outside the United States. It also doesn’t support many concurrent or frequent tests. On the other hand, our implementation of fast.com only reports download speed. Moreover, it is primarily relevant for Netflix users.

Cloudflare, on the other hand, offers broader global server coverage. This makes it a valuable addition for NetBeez users who need more comprehensive performance insights. You can try a Cloudflare speed test directly in your browser at https://speed.cloudflare.com/. While running the test, you can also view the global server locations on an interactive map. We previously wrote an article covering cloudflare speed tests. I encourage you to read it if you want to learn more about it.

2025 Technical Webinars

This year, we also had an aggressive “webinars roadmap”. The upcoming webinar on Linux, a topic relevant to the custom command feature, will be the seventh we held this year!

Custom Command Webinar

In this webinar, we demonstrated how the Custom Command feature works across distributed NetBeez agents by deploying and scheduling user scripts. We provided some examples of scripts that automate routine tasks, generate alerts, and streamline operations for more efficient network management. By watching, you’ll gain practical insights into leveraging Custom Command to proactively monitor and optimize your network.

Rethinking Wi-Fi Monitoring

In this webinar, you’ll learn how NetBeez takes a user-centric approach to WiFi network monitoring, showing you what end users are actually experiencing rather than just looking at the network. You’ll see how this proactive monitoring approach helps identify and resolve issues before they impact users, providing practical strategies to ensure a smoother, more reliable network experience.

Troubleshooting WFH Issues

In this webinar, you’ll learn how to tackle network issues, real or perceived, among remote employees, where multiple factors can make troubleshooting challenging and user feedback may be unclear. We’ll demonstrate how a small, lightweight software client installed on end-user laptops can simplify the process of identifying and resolving problems. You’ll see how the NetBeez remote worker agent has become an essential tool for network engineers, help desk agents, and IT professionals in efficiently supporting remote users.

Monitoring Zoom and RingCentral

Zoom and RingCentral are cloud-based platforms for video and voice communication. In remote environments, local network performance directly impacts user experience. While both offer basic connectivity checks, relying on them alone often means audio or video issues are only discovered after they interrupt communication.

This webinar highlights why continuous, proactive network performance monitoring is crucial for these platforms, covering key metrics like WiFi strength, latency, jitter, packet loss, and MOS (Mean Opinion Score). We’ll also demonstrate how NetBeez enables ongoing assessment and optimization, supported by real-world case studies that showcase successful implementations.

What to Expect in 2026

I hope you agree that in 2025 we delivered on many fronts. Our plan for 2026 is even more ambitious, as we’ll be releasing a brand new look and feel of NetBeez dashboard. This update, expected in the first half of the year, will be a major milestone for our team. It’s designed not only to enhance the overall dashboard experience but also to introduce backend optimizations that will allow the solution to scale efficiently to tens of thousands of agents per instance and unlock further future improvements.
